Police are asking residents to lock their car doors when they park them, even if it’s in front of their home, after some 13 unlocked cars were reported broken into last week, Newton Patch reports.

I’ve never understood why people don’t lock their cars. It’s not difficult.
It’s always worth a reminder that Newton is a low-crime community, not a no crime community b
It’s important to keep the area around parked cars lit at night, and not leave any visible valuables [including coins]. These thieves think nothing of smashing a car window if they spot something they think is valuable.
As far as carelessness goes, this guy’s got nothing on me – my pants don’t have pockets, so I often just leave the keys in the ignition. Liberating!
