After a long stint in the Mayor’s office — Eight years? It feels like yesterday! — good-guy Aaron Goldman is moving on.
Good morning friends,
I am writing this morning to share some news with you – my last day with the City of Newton will be Thursday, September 21st, as I have accepted a position in the Public Affairs and Communications office at Harvard University.
Stepping down from my position with the city I grew up in and am raising a family in was not an easy decision, but I have decided that with Mayor Warren moving on at the end of the year, the time has come for me to move on as well.
One of the best parts of the past 8 years has been the opportunity to get to know and work with all of you, and I am extremely grateful for that.
Newton will continue to be home for the foreseeable future, so I am sure I will see you around. In the meantime, please do stay in touch. My personal e-mail is xxxxx
Thank you so much and I hope to see you soon.
Best,
–Aaron
A hearty thank you to Aaron for his service.
Channeling my inner G. Reibman: Hey, Aaron. Once you hand in your pass to 1000 Commonwealth, expect to see you here!
It’s a big loss for the city, but Aaron has a bright future and I hope Newton government hasn’t heard the last from him.
Sorry to see Aaron leave but not unexpected. He has a bright future, and I’m sure we in Newton haven’t heard the last of him!
Aaron Goldman is as good as it gets. I’ll miss him tons but I’m happy for him that he found such a great job. We can only hope he’ll run for office in Newton someday!
Maybe it’s time for another Village 14 party?
Thank you all for the kind words (and terrible pictures!) It has been fun to watch Village 14 grow over the years, and I look forward to continuing to read it from across the river!
I’m going to miss this guy! Really.
All the best to you in the future, Aaron. All well deserved.
Congrats and Good Luck!
City Hall will never be the same. Aaron is Newton’s secret weapon and will be sorely missed.
HOWEVER:
There is disappointment that over eight years he failed to fulfill his (and his candidate’s) most solemn election promise- an open bar at City Hall.
All will be forgiven Aaron if you find a way for us to drink on Harvard’s tab…
Best of luck! You’re a star.
Congratulations Aaron! Higher education is lucky to have you!
Does this mean citi-stat will now become stati-stat..
Hate to see you go Aaron, but seems like a great fit for you! Congrats on your new position ! You have served your city well over the years… Hope you are taking some time off too !
Aaron, Congratulations and Good luck
Say it ain’t so.
We’ll miss you Aaron. Best of luck with your next chapter.
An amazing person and friend. Aaron will be missed at City Hall but he still lives in Newton! I wish him the best and thank him for always being there for all of us.
Best of luck, Aaron! I bet you won’t have to attend every meeting ever to have been held when you go to work across the river! If ennui ensues, come on back!
Harvard will be extremely well represented in the community.
Aaron is a class act and a thoughtful manager who has never sought the limelight, but has won countless friends here because of how he interacts with people. He’s served this mayor with distinction and measured grace and he always made it a point to make certain, well in advance, that I had a ticket for a free parking space at BC when I’d drive Peg Hannigan to the annual Newton Prayer Breakfast. Setti and Aaron worked hand in glove like a team and it was a pleasure to see just how in sync they are with each other. He will be missed.
Aaron – good luck – you have been a fantastic civil servant – thank you for everything you have done. Harvard is very lucky. And glad you are staying in Newton.
Somehow Bob Burke always has the best and most level headed comment on pretty much any thread he’s on.
Aaron,
Am I reading this correctly??? We will miss you so much. There’s just such positive energy and warmth around the Mayor’s office because of you, a sense that when things get tense or panicky, you will appear to calm things, and people, down. It’s no surprise that with Setti moving on, you would be too, a double loss, but jeepers only two more weeks! Will definitely have to stop by and get my hug – – uh, being a public forum better make that a handshake!! Wish there were more like you out there, your ability to LISTEN, for one!!!
Phil and I will wish you and your family the best, always!
