Welcome to the official start of the 2017 municipal election season.
Today is the first day that candidates can pull papers to run for mayor, city council, school committee and area council. Every job is open and awaiting your candidacy. If you’re running, introduce yourself here. If you have a favorite candidate early on tell us about him or her too.
UPDATE: According to this tweet from Gloria Gavris, five candidates pulled papers for mayor as of 4:50 p.m. today: Three that we knew about –Ruthanne Fuller, Amy Sangiolo and Richard Saunders — plus two new additions: Al Cecchinelli’ and Geoffrey Woodward. We assume Scott Lennon will stop by City Hall soon as well.

@Al
Oops!! So sorry on the misspelling of your name ! In my haste to tweet I didn’t put on my glasses.
One correction to Greg’s statement: Area Council Nomination Papers will not be available until August 9, 2017.
@Gloria: Representatives from the four Area Councils met with David Olson last week and learned that our Area Council Nomination papers will be available for us to gather signatures on August 9! But we don’t need as many signatures, so we don’t need them in May.
Sorry, I didn’t see David’s post until after I commented.
