Teachers: Release the complete Day Middle School investigation

I agree, let’s get this Report released. Full transparency as promised by Mayor Warren in his first run for Mayor in 2009.
School Committee Chair Matt Hills, would have been great in the Nixon Administration. It’s just an endless series of spin and coverups from his School Committee.
Before this latest report was redacted–before the anti-semitic activity–before the Superintendent’s slap on the wrist for plagiarism–before the subsequent coverup of his inadequate punishment–and before Hill’s admonishment from the Attorney General, I’d already wised-up to the foolishness of this School Committee.
This is the same School Committee that’s left thousands of high school students exposed to an epidemic of stress, because of their inability to change early morning start times. The same School Committee that doesn’t respect middle school students enough to give them adequate time to eat lunch. The same School Committee that disregards the risk of traumatic brain injuries associated with school football. And the same School Committee that’s in the process of trying to bust the custodian’s union.
So it should come as no surprise to anyone that Hills and the School Committee hold the public in low regard as well. They use taxpayer dollars on an independent counsel to do their dirty work and keep their secrets. Such a disgrace!
I hope the teachers and the TAB succeed in getting it released. It’s ridiculous the amount that was redacted – especially all those recommendations. I find it very hard to believe that more than half the recommendations were about private personnel issues.
I agree with Mike Striar. Not one incumbent member of the School Committee will get my vote for re-election. They forgot long ago that they are accountable to the Citizens of Newton and not the Superintendent.
Whose private personnel files are being protected? The teachers want it released so that changes the reasoning for all of the redactions. It must just be the principal, vice principal and any other administrators involved. They need to release the independent report with the names of any minors involved redacted, unless they can get away with redacting the administrative personnel’s information. It really bothers me that the teachers and staff might have been threatened if they told or fear retaliation now. If that is the case, there may be legal issues that require the report’s release.
