I believe today is also the last day to change political parties if you want to vote in a different party’s primary. This includes if you are registered as a member of a third party, such as the United Independent Party. You would need to change to “unenrolled” or a major party to vote in one of the major party primaries.

You are correct, sir. Also, the City Clerk’s office will remain open until 8:00pm tonight to accommodate folks wishing to come by after work.

When I went to the desk today to have an absentee ballot sent to one of my kids at college, there was a line of people who were switching their registrations.

@Ted:Any idea which way they were switching or why?

Sallee, I didn’t ask what they were switching to. But several people at the counter mentioned that they had registered as “Independent.” They did not realize that was an actual party and that in order to have the option of voting in either the Republican or Democratic primary they needed to register as “unenrolled.”

When is the primary?
And will some of the political ads stop afterwards? Please?

We vote on Super Tuesday, March 1. Blessed airwaves peace after that, but not for long, with the main event coming up next November (and additional primaries for state offices, I believe, in September).

Many people I’ve talked to are switching to unenrolled (or Independents) so they can vote in the Republican primary. And you’ll never guess who they are voting for…… 🙂
Not sure you could say “you’d never guess.” There’s only something like seven candidates left so I’m sure one would guess correctly after, at most, seven guesses.
