This notice just arrived from the Upper Falls Area Council and is open to all interested individuals
Northland Tour, July 20th at 6pm.
On Thursday July 20 from 6:00pm to 7:30pm, Northland Development will host a “Community Tour”. Weather permitting, this will include a walk through the construction site. The tour will start inside of “Building 1”, the historic mill building at 156 Oak Street in Newton Upper Falls. Please enter from Oak Street across from Abbot Street. The building also has an accessible elevator entrance and there is a fair amount that can be seen from the main floor of Building 1. However, the construction site is not accessible and for that people will need to wear appropriate, closed toed shoes.
Parking is usually available on Chestnut Street east of the intersection with Oak Street.
The tour is free and open to the community. So that Northland knows how many people to expect, please send an email to
[email protected] in advance if you plan to attend.
The Community Tour will be followed by the normal monthly meeting of the Upper Falls Area Council at 7;30pm, held in-person at the same location.
Thanks to Northland for making this possible.
I wonder if this will ever get completed. Commerical real estate has taken a huge dive in the last 2 years.
Riverside center in Newton just sold for HALF price the current owner paid just 2 years ago (235M)

Yes it has definitely been a tough time for commercial real estate recently.
Unlike the Riverside project though work is underway on Northland. All signs that I can see day-to-day seems to indicate this is moving forward. Come on down to Upper Falls next week and see what they have to say.
Northland has done a remarkable job so far to this point. The restoration of Bld 1 with 14′ ceiling height, the original joists, posts, fasteners – this place is a crafted museum, proud to be recognized and hosted by the upper falls neighborhood. Even with the hardships of the pandemic, the adversity of mezzanine financing troubling other developers, Northland is on schedule to be a remarkable draw for all Newton. BRAVO
