Hello. Just stopping in to say hello and note that Village 14 began ten years ago today: Nov. 27, 2011.
My thanks to everyone who has contributed over the years and to everyone who has kept this site running since my retirement as a moderator earlier this year.
See you in three years at the Bar Mitzvah!
Happy birthday, V14!
Bar Mitzvah? Unconscious gender bias?
Bthey Mitzvah.
A great-niece recently celebrated her “B Mitzvah.”
So it wont be long before Village14 will be a know-it-all teenager with lots of attitude … wait, that sounds like its first 10 years.
Congratulations to Greg and Sean for creating a lasting Newton institution.
Alas, some of the older archives of the site have been lost along the way, and the bylines on many of the older posts have been scrambled.
I just tried to find my first post and it has disappeared without a trace. It was a post about a wonderfully bizarre event hosted by the New Art Center – the International Pancake Film Festival. It was a traveling collection of short films that were all about pancakes. While the films were being screened at the New Art Center, they cooked pancakes for the audience on griddles at the back of the hall. Just as promised the festival did indeed feature some of the best movies I had ever seen about pancakes.
Note, this was indeed a real thing, and not a Jerry fever dream. Speaking of fever dreams, Squid Games has recently invaded my neighborhood in Upper Falls
Before V14 Greg monitored the Newton Tab blog. Great community action on that blog too, especially when Newton North was rebuilt
Congratulations and many thanks to Sean, Greg, Jerry, and all the volunteers who keep Village 14 up and running. This site is a tremendous community asset that keeps Newton residents informed, and holds elected officials accountable for their actions.
Greg Reibman – I came across some old trading cards of Boston rock bands, and there’s one for Greg Reibman Editor of Boston Rock magazine, that looks like a younger you. Is it?
