The Scandinavian Living Center and Embrace Care and Health Services held an event on Friday, November 20. Pies were given out to Newton’s seniors to celebrate Thanksgiving. Post cards were mailed asking for an RSVP if you wanted a pie.

The card read “In honor of Thanksgiving,we are excited to announce that we are giving away pies to seniors over 65 in our community. Community-centered living has been a challenge during the Covid-19 pandemic. and small businesses have been hard hit as well. Sharing a pie from a local pastry shop is our way of letting our community know how thankful we are for you.”

Antoine’s Pastry Shop in Nonantum provided 140 pies. The choices were  the traditional pumpkin pie or apple pie.
