The polls closed a minute ago and we can report some results. The following candidates retained their City Council seats.

None of them had a challenger. The year in parentheses is the last election in which the Councilor faced a challenger.

Ward 1 at-large:

  • Alison Leary (2017)
  • Jay Ciccone (2017)

Ward 4 ward councilor:

  • Chris Markiewicz (2017*)

In 2017, Alison Sharma ran, and narrowly lost, a write-in campaign against now-Councilor Markiewicz.

Ward 4 at-large:

  • Lenny Gentile (2005 — first ran unopposed, not opposed since)
  • Josh Krintzman (2017 — first ran unopposed, not opposed since)

There hasn’t been a contested Ward 4 at-large race since 2003. Councilor Gentile was previously an at-large alderman in Ward 3. He had contested races in 2001 and 2003.

Ward 7 ward councilor:

  • Lisle Baker (2003)

Ward 7 at-large:

  • Marc Laredo (2011 — first ran unopposed, not opposed since)
  • Becky Grossman (2017 — first ran unopposed, not opposed since)

The last time that Ward 7 had a contested City Council race was the at-large race in 2009.

Fun fact, Councilor Laredo also had no challenger for his final two terms on the School Committee (2005 and 2007). He sat out the election cycle in 2009.

Ward 8 at-large:

  • David Kalis (2015)
  • Rick Lipof (2015)

Congratulations to all.
