The Globe’s John Hilliard reports on Northland’s “pledge to add workforce housing and public amenities to its proposed mixed-use development in Upper Falls.”
And you can watch the video from the entire meeting here….

Wow, not a single comment in over a week??
Ok, I’ll bite…
I hope the City Council (and some already do) see between the lines of Northland’s “tit for that” negotiation tactics as we near the back end of the Special Permit process.
“Cheaper affordable housing rates….but we’re taking back a few units.”
“We’ll provide land for a skating rink and splash park…but (Newton) has to pay to run and maintain it (and we’re taking away the Community Building.”
“We’ll run a shuttle every 10 mins…but only to the Highlands T stop (is WiFi and “luxury shuttles” gone too?)”
Equally telling are the points where they will NOT budge….total number of parking spots or residential units.
Just hope we (Newton) doesn’t get swindled in this deal.
Yeah. Would’ve been nice if the City had grown some cojones before the ‘negotiations’ with the developers started. “Lie back and think of …. ” (fill in the blank) :(
