When West Point graduated it’s most diverse class ever, among those tossing their hats in the air was Noah Carlen, the only Newton North graduate of his year to attend a service academy and, according to the Times of Israel, among a small group of Jewish students graduating this year. He helped the school achieve the milestone of reaching 100 Jewish graduates.

He’s headed to Korea next.

I’ve known Noah and his family for a long time and he’s a great person, it’s been a privilege to watch him grow. He also happens to play the bagpipes (you’ve never celebrated Purim if you haven’t had the bagpipes playing) and just a few months ago brought the West Point Jewish Cadet Choir to Temple Reyim.

Oh… and he’s a member of Vader’s 501st Legion, which is seriously cool.
