Once again there’ll be music in the streets for Newton’s 2nd annual PorchFest. This year the event is expanding outward from Auburndale to include Lower Falls and Waban.
On one Saturday afternoon in June bands and musicians of every conceivable type will be performing on porches, driveways, front yards all over a big swatch of the city. Last year it was a beautiful day and a wonderful event. This year the PorchFest folks are promising more, better, and bigger.
While the event is not until June they have begun recruiting musicians and willing homeowners who’d like to host them. If you are either sign up here. If you’re neither, then consider making a donation to help produce this year’s event. The entire event, all the music, is free thanks to the generosity of the musicians, the homeowners and the organizers who donate their music, homes and time. Do your part to help build this wonderful new Newton annual tradition.
Yes!!! This was a wonderful event last year. Looking forward to this year.
Awesome! Only took in a little bit of it last year but it was great.
FYI, the Porchfest organizers are still looking for additional hosts and performers. We hosted last year and have signed up to host again this year – it’s a terrific, feel-good event in which to participate (and let’s be honest, who can’t use a little more feel-good?!). Here’s the latest :
Thanks, Allison!
We’re so close to our goal with regards to numbers and would love to surpass it!
We welcome all genres of music and no group is too small or large! Hosts can supply a front porch, a driveway, a front lawn. We’ll act as matchmakers between hosts and acts so it’s all easy!
