Very sad to report to that Newton has lost John O’Hara, who co-owned Paddy’s Public House in West Newton and O’Hara’s Food & Spirits in Newton Highlands with his brother Karl.
Let’s raise a glass to John O’Hara

So sad. With my family, I’ve spent many a happy evening at O’Hara’s. John and his brother Carl were very genial hosts.
Living in the Highlands, O’Haras is the go to spot for our family. They have been great neighbors and their generosity to local causes has been phenomenal. My deepest condolences to Karl and the rest of the O’Hara family.
Good night and God Bless John Ohara!

Terrible news. RIP to John.
Very sad news. John, Karl and the O’Hara family have been tremendous assets to the community. Always quick to help those in need and support many organizations. He will be missed though his spirit will certainly live on at O’Hara’s, Paddy’s and the annual Shillelagh Shuffle.
My family and I go to O’haras to mark all family milestones , both joyful and occasionally sad. We consider the O’Hara Family a part of our story, and our family. We are grateful for all John has done for our city and our villages. We will take care of Karl, as he often takes care of us and keep an eye on your family, including Patrick aka baby Karl.
Best food, menu and atmosphere in Newton. O’Hara’s has been the “go to” restaurant and pub for the entire family for the many years living in the Highlands. In fact, living nearby we deem O’Hara’s an asset, in the same way we do Cold Spring Park and Crystal Lake. Thank you John, RIP.
