Want to give an ask for folks to look into the different candidates running for State Auditor. The Globe endorsed the Libertarian candidate today, which seemed a little wacky to me, but after looking at all the candidates, I’m honestly undecided. There’s a good argument for I think the Dem/Republican/Libertarian candidates in a very undermentioned race, so I’d encourage people to take a look at each one.
Not something we are voting on, but I am keeping a close eye on California’s proposition 12. I hope it will pass and allow animals in factory farm slightly less miserable lives.
Truthfully, I’m more focused on supporting congressional and gubernatorial races outside of Massachusetts. IMHO, it’s more important to support Democrats in other states who don’t have the benefits of lace-curtain liberalism.
I personally think the vote of most consequence on 11/6 is Yes on 3. Massachusetts needs to make a statement.
I’m very curious to see the turnout figures. And,nationally, to see how big the blue wave turns out to be.
A bunch of things:
– The Blue Wave
– The Georgia gubernatorial election
– Whether or not the ugly and sneaky tactics used by OON will be successful
– Our gubernatorial election – I fully expect Baker to win, but I’m curious about how much
– All 3 of the MA questions
– Protection for Jews, Muslism and African Americans from Hate Crimes, discrimination, and Lone Wolf acts of Domestic Terrorism (from Nazis, White Supremacists, and radical alt right Hate Groups).
– Gun Control.
– Children of defenseless migrants being separated from their parents at the borders and systematically thrown into internment camps.
This is why I Voted Blue this past weekend. And Yes on 3.
Question 2 – an attack on the rights of “little guys” to have their views heard. Citizens United isn’t a big, bad corporation. It’s a group of individual citizens who want to make movies about political issues. Most Americans can’t afford individually to make and exhibit a movie. Federal Election Commission rules were written to suppress the exhibition of a movie critical of a political candidate, and the Supreme Court ruled that this was speech protected by the First Amendment. The backers to Question 2 want to put effective political speech exclusively in the hands of the rich. Vote NO on Question 2 to ensure us to the right join with others to make our political voices heard.
Jan, yes Citizen’s United is a big corporation. It’s not responsible to and does not represent in political matters its employees. It’s decisions are made by the wealthy people at the top. Unless an employee happens to be one of them, they’re not speaking for them and corporations don’t deserve to have the same protections.
Before the Supreme Court decided corporations were people too, it was a laughable thought – well actually it still is. Corporations are not people and should not have the rights individual citizens do.
I believe Charlie Baker will be re-elected by about 70% giving him a landslide victory. His bipartisan approach to governing will be seen as a refreshing model nation wide.
This is a laughably stupid statement.
Anyone claiming that Citizens United represents the “little guys,” is obviously just trolling for their own amusement.
What matters most now is that we have a Democratic majority to try to stop the inequities in the present administration.
That it will now be 8:05 and the MA elections will be over!
The blue wave actually happening. A larger than usual turnout.
Young people voting in large numbers. A black woman becomes governor of GA. Beto wins.
It’s hard to nail down one thing that matters most but having said that, I’m most incensed about Question 3 even being on the MA ballot. It’s hard for me to even contemplate why enough MA voters signed a petition to repeal the 2016 legislation protecting the rights of other people based on their gender.
I think some restrictions need to be placed on petitions that would rescind legislation already in place. These protections passed both the house and the senate to become law. Populism cannot be allowed to overturn laws.
Vote YES to keep in place the current law, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of gender identity in places of public accommodation.
