| Newton MA News and Politics BlogThis week, the Newton Theatre Company continues its fine tradition of free performances of Greek drama on City Hall steps with Euripides’ Iphigenia at Aulis, July 26-29 (Thursday-Saturday) at 7:30PM. As explained in NTC’s article about the play, all roles in this production will be performed by women. Comfortable seats are provided, so there’s no need for lawn chairs or blankets. In case of rain, the performance will be held inside the Newton Cultural Center Auditorium in City Hall. Donations to NTC will be accepted.

The play is full of conflict, deceit, fear, power, sacrifice for military gain, heroism, and loss. In a brief introductory talk, Chris Polt (Boston College Classics Scholar in Residence) will illuminate key themes and questions raised by the play.
