Outdoor dining on an evening like a few we had this past week is breathtakingly pleasant! That got me to wondering if anyone has compiled a list of al fresco restaurant venues in the Garden City? I’ll start the list with the ones that come readily to mind. Please add others you know about. See you on the patio!
- Sol Azteca (Newton Centre)
- Cheesecake factory (Chestnut Hill)
- Union Street Bistro (Newton Centre)
- Comedor (Newton Centre)
- Anthony’s Coal-Fired Pizza (Newton Highlands)
- Stone L’Oven (Waban)
- The Depot Coffee Shop (Upper Falls)
- Rox Diner (Newtonville)
I guess you can add The Station Diner and Terry O’Reilley’s to the list but I wish they would lose the picnic tables to some civilized and comfortable tables. I’d also like to see Central and Sycamore add some sidewalk tables.
Shake Shack
The Cottage
Legal Seafood
AChestnut Hill
St. Petersburg Cafe
JP Licks
Newton Centre
Blue Ribbon BBQ
Cherry Tree
West Newton
Los Amigos
Newtonville
Whole Foods Market
Four Corners
@ Sean Roche where is the al fresco dining at St Petersburg Cafe? I’ve always felt their back courtyard had great potential, but as far as I have seen no outdoor dining
Moldova and West Street Tavern in Nonantum.
Feast of the Falls, Upper Falls
Boca Bella &
Wally’s ice cream in
Auburndale
Dinner at Bocca Bella in Auburndale is lovely. Did someone mention Comodor in Newton Centre? That is great too.
I am not a fan of chain restaurants so mostly avoid anything a Chestnut Hill Mall or Street.
That said, I make an exception for Brio Tuscan Grille. Food and ambiance are excellent and I love their covered porch.
Some of the places on the list so far have only 1 or 2 tiny tables without much in the way of ambiance… not sure that really counts!
Fiorella’s in Nonantum also has a cute patio.
It would be great to see some real / bigger outdoor dining options open up in the future through redeveloped areas of Newtonville, W Newton, and hopefully parts of Newton Center.
The Biltmore in Newton Upper Falls
Panera in Newton Centre, even though it is a chain, has lovely outdoor patio seating in the back.
New England Soup Factory on Needham Street shares a patio with Starbucks and Splash. There are tables and an outdoor fireplace.
I’d like to see a beer garden or two in Newton. Any thoughts on possible locations? Think outside the box.
J0-Louise, does the Biltmore have outdoor dining?
Village Cafe!
@Claire, yes the Biltmore has a nice patio to the left of the restaurant. It’s behind a garden door, so you can miss it if you don’t know it’s there.
@Claire: the Biltmore does, indeed, have outdoor dining. I had forgtten their side patio.
Besito!
Noticed that 5 Guys, Papa Gino’s and Qdoba – all on Needham St. – also have outdoor tables. Any others? Especially ones that are not fast food…
Yogurt Beach!
Watertown St.
(former Petrillo’s market)
