From the Newton Police Department:

On Monday, April 16, the 2018 Boston Marathon will take place and the route will travel through Newton via Washington Street to Commonwealth Avenue to the Boston line.

Please be advised that road closures along the route will occur at the following times:

• 8:30 a.m. from the Wellesley line – Washington Street to Beacon Street
• 8:00 a.m. from Beacon Street at Washington Street to Washington Street to Commonwealth Avenue
• 8:00 a.m. from Washington Street at Commonwealth Avenue to the Boston line

Parking restrictions will also be in place along the Marathon route, Commonwealth Avenue – carriage lanes and portions of streets that feed into the Marathon route.

This year’s event will have added security and all bags and coolers are subject to be searched by Police.
Residents who live on Homer Street between Commonwealth Avenue and Walnut Street, Walnut Street between Commonwealth Avenue and Homer Street, Cummings Road and North Street should be advised that this will be a Police Security Zone, and therefore will be open to abutters only from 9:00 a.m. to 6 p.m.
