Best wishes in the new year to all current blog readers.
I am presently reading various chapters of the Planning Depts. recent issue of the multi paged development Pattern Book. This book is a guide for all of Newton’s villages and their future transformation. Many people advocate for significant zoning changes. Ones which will ultimately change the vernacular growth patterns of historic Newton. Homeowners property values and traditional building codes once protected by zoning laws will be altered. The special permit process could be handed over to salaried civil servants not to elected officials. Our city could lose its distinctive historical regional characteristics. Self rule will be lost in terms of the old patterns of community growth and development. These are my concerns for all those who love and respect Newton’s past measured growth patterns.
I hope Newton is warmer in 2018
I will continue to enjoy watching
the value of my property soar.
Best investment i ever made. Restaurants with $18.00 burgers are closing, my kids are out of the PC politically toxic Newton school system, and plenty of new development throughout the city will mean lots of new people to meet. Nothing but blue skies and clear sailing ahead.
Happy New Year!
I predict property tax increases will slow in the coming years. Due to the tax law changes, residents will be more sensitive to increases and will finally push back more forcefully
This is good or bad depending on your point of view.
I also predict Washington place will be a smashing success once built and will attract more millenials with kids into the area.
Happy New Year to the V14 gang!
My hopes: A solid summer lunch program, an eliminated parking ban, improved sidewalks, and later HS start times.
My worries: That none of those things will happen.
