Following the events last weekend in Charlottesville and heading into the weekend with protests planned in Boston, Newton mayoral candidate (and flimmaker) Eli Katzoff reached out to his fellow candidates and made this video.

This is absolutely fantastic. Powerful!
This is awesome. I love that they agreed to do this. We are so blessed to live in a community like this.
Nicely done!
I’m so proud of Ely for pulling this all together and equally for every candidate who appeared. I know each of these candidates except Ely, so I know this came from the heart for each of them. Beautifully crafted and very moving.
WOW…This is such a powerful and inspirational message from the candidates. Thank you!
Blown away – powerful message to get all 7 candidates on one video, and very well executed. Thank you to Eli Katzoff for conceiving and creating this, and to all the candidates for participating.
Well done! Sorry I was committed to other duties during the short window that was understandably open for Eli to put this together. His professionalism shows up in the final cut.
I’m proud to be among such a fine group of highly qualified, civic minded candidates for office. The Democratic process is alive and well in Newton. I wish it were as positive and healthy at the Federal level.
OK – I can’t count. Sorry, Richard, for forgetting there are 8 candidates. Still, 7 out of 8 is impressive.
@Richard – I hope you’ll be more available to participate in candidate forums, etc. in the next few weeks.
Sincerely spoken and well done. Watched it twice.
@Eli. Sorry for misspelling your name.
Thanks to everyone involved, especially Eli. It’s a well done, powerful statement. I too watched it twice.
Very nice job. Thank you to all candidates.
awesome!!!
We are very lucky to have the kind of candidates with the values, morals and courage that we do in Newton. When creating this video every candidate without question or hesitation wanted to participate and took time out of their busy campaigning days to do so. It was simply awesome.
Eli Katzoff,
Mayoral Candidate
I’ve given Eli Katzoff a hard time for both his performance art and (no longer available) dating attempts but he really carried himself well in the debates and this video was a great, timely use of his talents and energy.
Katzoff is still entirely unqualified to be mayor. But he’s earned my respect for this and the way he’s conducted himself on the trail.
Let’s hope he finds new ways to stay engaged and active in our city starting Sept. 13.
Greg is right. I didn’t think Eli introduced himself well, but he has run a spirited, upbeat and issue oriented campaign. The Unity video was the frosting on the cake. For this preliminary season and in the unflagging spirit of the immortal Al Smith, he’s won my official “Happy Warrior” award for this preliminary election cycle.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we were to attend an AMC, Showcase or Regal Theater movie before 2022 to see a film produced and/or directed by Eli! His production values are as high as his morals!
@Meredith: There are 7 candidates. Only six were in the film Eli made because candidate Richard Saunders couldn’t join them.
FYI, the seven Mayoral candidates are (not in any particular order): Eli Katzoff, Geoffrey Woodward, Scott Lennon, Al Cecchinelli, Amy Mah Sangiolo, Ruthanne Fuller, Richard Saunders .
