If you are 50+ years old I hope you will attend the Mayoral Candidates Forum this Tuesday (Aug. 15). The focus is Issues Impacting Seniors and their Caregivers. This event will be held 7:00-8:30 pm at the Newton Senior Center, 345 Walnut Street in Newtonville.

Everyone is invited to come with questions about the future of services for seniors in Newton. The seven mayoral candidates will be speaking and responding to your questions. Greg Reibman has agreed to moderate.

As Newton residents for 40+ years, my husband and I have supported the quest for quality education for Newton’s children including support for the many teachers, staff, and facilities required. I hope that at the Mayoral Candidates Forum the candidates will clearly explain their positions regarding seniors and commit to a time frame for the implementation of their plans. We are looking forward to gaining clarity on which candidates are informed, concerned, and have concrete visions of how better senior services can be provided.

My husband and I are seniors and, like most Newton seniors, we always vote. As seniors, we are asking, will Newton support services to seniors that match the quality and accessibility that we proudly provide in education and other areas.
