There is a new #NewtonMA mayoral candidate in the race: @EliKForMayor https://t.co/CdeTfCns4A

Couldn’t help but notice this star-spangled video on my Twitter feed. Eli Katzoff, owner of a video production company, has already introduced himself on another thread. What does he bring to this race? His website is short on details, but there are a few issues listed, some familiar some not so much.
I’m trying to decide if this guy is a serious candidate or a performance artist.
That video made me smile. No idea why. So I’m betting on the performance artist.
Same here, though nowadays it’s hard to tell. Would that bring the current count to two?
SHORT ANSWER:
I am running a campaign that brings people together, unites us around important issues, and brings some fun into local politics.
LONG ANSWER
To answer the question up front, I am a small business owner who cares deeply about our city. (more on this below) but if I am going to run for Mayor I want to make sure I bring a few smiles along while we begin to speak about what I feel are some very important topics. So I’m glad the video can evoke a few smiles. Right on!
More than ever I feel it’s important that if one has a vision, a message or even just a simple idea we cannot sit quiet and we must get involved and find ways to be heard. After our past national elect I feel this to be more true then ever before.
In my discussions with residents across the city–a lot of them who can’t even vote yet-I hear the need to involve young people in our political process. Politics isn’t for old white guys with wigs anymore, and it shouldn’t be. I’m looking forward to creating new ways to use technology to commute my ideas about the city. And hey, when you are running a campaign on a small budget I have to get creative in how we can get our messaging out there.
I hope over the coming months people will take a look at my ideas, stances and ways I can bring our city forward and either say to themselves, “I want nothing to do with this shmuck and his ideas!” or “you know what, I can get on board with this vision!” And I’m sure my editor would tell me to delete the above because it’s not the most PC answer but A, I don’t have an editor and B, it’s what I feel.
Eli Katzoff
Mayoral Candidate
Eli,
What issues about Newton concern you the most?
Loved the video. We need to invite Eli to the next Bloggers Night Out. I can’t say that he convinced me to vote for him, but, hey Eli, have some fun and shake it up!
