Ward 6 City Council contender Brenda Noel campaign reports that her signatures have been submitted to the City Clerk and certified and she will indeed appear on the ballot in the upcoming election.
I have no idea how her campaign is doing so far with voters but I do know that she is still the clear leader in the all important 2017 Campaign Swag contest. There are a lot of candidates out there knocking on doors and collecting signatures. I’m still waiting for one of them to try to unseat Brenda with some first rate swag.
Brenda’s swag is fun and it can be an ice-breaker when you inadvertently crash someone’s BBQ (see Jerry’s previous linked post above), but also notable is how hard she is working to meet and engage with people, listen, and learn what we care about. Brenda can’t campaign full-time–she’s the development director for a local non-profit–but she has knocked on 1,000 doors already, attends City Council meetings, the N. Centre Library project unveiling, NHAC and neighborhood meetings and public hearings, Highlands Village Day (ran the 5K then stood out in the heat talking to people all afternoon). It’s predictive of how engaged she would be as a Councilor and how often she will show up for us if she’s elected.
The Ward 6 council race is my favorite down ticket contest to follow at the moment. There are substantive differences between Dick Blazer and Brenda Noel. I’m looking forward to any debates!
Here’s her website

I’d like to see her add more about where she stands on specific issues. That said, I think her background in advocacy and the public sector would be a very useful addition to the CC.
Thanks for all the kind words- would welcome the chance to connect with folks to further discuss where I stand on issues. Feel free to drop me an email- [email protected]. Hoping to earn your vote and serve as your next Ward 6 City Councilor.
Brenda is fantastic – this is a ward race I can vote in and I strongly support her campaign. Hope others will too.
“There are two things that are important in politics. One is money and I can’t remember what the other one is.” Senator Mark Hanna, 1895.
I’ll be voting for swag-free Blazer.
Just made a visit to ocpf site. Who is Brenda’s largest campaign contributor? Given the Wellesley address provided and lack of employer information, was this a business contribution/deduction?

Thoughts?
According to the report I see the usual suspects: Korff, Heyman, Gifford, Sokoloff, etc.
Free country and and all that but known by the company one keeps also tells a lot. But luckily, according to some folks on this blog and others, there’s absolutely no cabal and no power elite and no effort by the NDCC to make all elections in the city partisan so I remain content.
@Mark: I’ll in your neighborhood later today. Let me know if you prefer more of the kiwi Kool-Aid I brought last time or want to try the sour grape?
@Brenda: Thanks for sharing.
Hi everyone-
This is one of the strengths about our democracy- complete transparency. I encourage folks to take a look at my OCPJ page as often as they like. If you take a closer look at my expenditures page you will see the Korff donation was returned as soon as I received the notification. See here-https://www.ocpf.us/Filers?q=noel&cat=C#filer-data
I wanted to send a clear message to everyone that I am independent voice.
My campaign will continue to evaluate any contribution that may create the appearance of a conflict and/or precludes me from being able to vote on any and all matters that would come before me as a councilor.
Please feel free to reach out directly to me- [email protected], or my campaign treasurer, Claudia Dumond-Henderson at [email protected] – happy to meet one-on-one.
best,
Brenda
@Greg
You’re always welcome here at the house! I’ve always appreciated the fact that you’re willing to come down here to the mean streets on this end of town and hang out with me. Please don’t forget your pencil again this time though. Last time we were unable to play connect-the-dots.
Mark- Check out the Political Money that has been given to Ward Councilors by Developers. Legal but $500.00 a piece from Developers and Special Interest groups for a Ward Councilor smells funny . Glad that Brenda gave her developer money back. Too bad our elected Councilor did not.
