On the first day that papers were available, City Councilor and mayoral candidate Ruthanne Fuller tweets today that she has obtained the necessary signature to be on the ballot.
Picked up our papers this morning, turned in over 900 8 hours later! We’re on the ballot! #NewtonMA #fullerformayor pic.twitter.com/RYFedDwcUi

I am speechless- I ran into Ruthanne at 8:30 am this morning as I was picking up my papers….speechless- well done my friend..well done!
Congratulations to Ruthanne!
900 same-day signatures is not an easy thing to pull off.
Yesterday at the Highlands Women’s Club, I was very disappointed tho hear all 3 candidates say they expect the city will need more over rides in the near future. Tax payers are expected to pay more at every level of government not for better services but for the increased salaries, pensions and healthcare of public employees. At the same time most private sector people can not afford their own pensions and h. care. The more we are taxed the faster our future taxes go up. Wake up politicians, stop over spending. Massachusetts has a cap of 2 1/2 percent. Live within that ceiling increase. Who in Newton with any sense would approve another override?
Ruthanne is the only candidate for Mayor who has proactively reached out to me. In our multiple meetings, I’ve been able to get a good sense of her leadership style. Long story short, I’m not in the least bit surprised by this result as she has the aptitude to get things done.
WOW
Very impressive!
Anyone else observe the earnest #1 entrant as perhaps eyeing the Council Presidency?? Ruthanne Xmas in May, nice going.
