Two coaches of Newton South High School’s freshman football team have been placed on leave pending a police and school district investigation into an alleged incident on the team’s school bus Thursday evening, the TAB’s Jonathan Dame reports. (And he posts the Concord Police dispatch calls.)

The real question here… Why is tackle football still a school sport? Football’s links to brain trauma and lifelong orthopedic issues are undeniable. Sadly, the Newton School Committee lacks the courage to take action. Once again they have chosen to follow rather than lead. And some of these kids are going to pay a tremendous consequence for the SC’s lack of action.
