City, Boston College discussing preserving undeveloped portion of Webster Woods

Boston College has indicated it is open to working with the city to preserve the undeveloped portion of land the university purchased from Congregation Mishkan Tefila earlier this year, Mayor Setti Warren tells the TAB’s Jonathan Dame.

    This is truly great news. I don’t know if there are any strings attached to this, but it’s probably worth it. This stretch of open space in the heart of Newton is priceless.

    I’ll believe it when I see it. This is something that should have been addressed a year ago, before BC had such a strong upper hand.Has Mayor Warren ever once played hardball with his alma mater BC? Just today he announced what he called a “historic partnership” with BC, allegedly to address “income inequality.” The resulting document certainly identifies the issue, but stops well short of actually solving anything. It reads more like a position paper for a gubernatorial campaign rather than a true attempt to actually solve any problem.
