It was so hot in Newton that City Councilor Ted Hess-Mahan invited a half-dozen commercial landscapers to aim their “most powerful leaf blowers at directly my house for six hours just so I can see if they really are as noisy as I remember.”
It’s so hot in Newton that the shed used to accommodate our most vulnerable students burned down yesterday. The School Committee, the Superintendent and the Mayor have just jointly issued a statement saying “the shed is no longer suitable for educational purposes” and they will “proactively build a beautiful new school for the majority of students while moving the shed dwellers to a basement somewhere.”
It was so hot, you could fry an egg on the sidewalk — that is, an egg from a free-range, organically fed chicken that had been reared at a local farm committed to using 100 percent sustainable and environment-friendly practices and methods. Also, once fried, the egg was cleaned up off the sidewalk using a chemical-free solution, the remains properly bagged and placed in the BLUE (not the GREEN) curbside receptacle.
Our City Councillor just legally changed his name to Steamed Rice
And the councilor from Ward 7 has changed his name to Lisle Baked.
The 8 at the end of the Waban zipcode melted down to a 3 and Waban disappeared.
…that we went to Central Florida for our summer vacation, where it was cooler.
…that Waban noticed a dome of cool air over its Village, rising from all the cool people who live there and they generously offered to share their comfortable weather with other villages if the other villages stopped blowing hot air at Waban!
Sallee, that’s funny.
I hope you know I wasn’t meaning to “blow hot air at Waban” in my comment. I just imagined a number melting in the heat and an 8 becoming a 3 popped into my off-kilter brain. Since Waban’s zipcode is 02468, if it became 02463 it would disappear because 02463 is not a zipcode.
I know, if I have to explain it, it isn’t funny!!
It is so hot in Newton that all the coyotes have left for the hills in Maine; even though Waban, as Sallee said, is such a cool place to live.
It was so hot in Waban that the parking meters melted. Oh yeah…uh, never mind.
