Here’s what Tom Mountain, chair of Newton’s Republican City Committee at the GOP Convention, told WGBH Radio this week…
Where’s Charlie? Where’s Karen? Where’s Charlie Baker, Karen Polito—why aren’t you here? It is the moral and political obligation of the Republican Governor of Massachusetts to support the Republican nominee for president, and that person is of course Donald J. Trump of New York.
Are there any Newton Republicans reading this who agree with their city committee chair?
In these trying times, with seemingly worse and worse news coming to us from different corners of the globe, it’s extremely refreshing – and critically important – to have someone like Tom Mountain to make us laugh.
The only thing that could be worse than a Hillary presidency would be a third term for Obama.
Donald Trump is not a polished politician, but he speaks from his heart and doesn’t need a teleprompter. He has press conferences, does interviews, and tells us what he feels.
Obama was polished……..as long as he had a teleprompter. Any time he is interviewed he is a stumbling, unsure speaker, hemming and hawing, and using inconsistent hand gestures to fill in the space he leaves when he can’t think of what to say.
And Hillary, she hasn’t faced a press conference in many months. She’s afraid to because she can’t really explain all the criminal behavior and incompetence in her background.
Donald Trump is admittedly an unknown in politics. He is a natural leader, which Obama clearly wasn’t, makes friends easily, and has the potential to do great things. Time will tell. But we know Hillary well since Bill’s time as Governor and President, and it’s a gruesome story.
Tom is correct. All Republicans need to unite behind Trump’s candidacy. It doesn’t mean they have to agree with everything he says.
Gary Johnson is an option. Pro LGBTQ rights far before the Clinton camp was. Doesn’t want to start more wars. Pro Choice. Anti-domestic spying. And he has two terms as a governor. All 50 state ballots. The only thing preventing him from winning is people too unintelligent to understand that there are other options.
