Newton’s July 4 festivities, brought to us by Newton Community Pride, begin Monday morning with kids events and free ice cream from Cabot’s at Newton Center Playground from 10 a.m. to noon. The annual open air market and amusement rides run from 1-10 p.m. at Albemarle Field, Watertown Street, Route 16 (amusement rides also available on Saturday and Sunday). The Bo and Bill Winiker Band will perform starting at 6 p.m., followed by fireworks starting at 9 p.m.

Remember to bring your own drinking water, and try to cram the empty gallon containers into the recycling monkey hole of big-belly companion.
Or better yet, take them home with you. Carry in, carry out.
Bullseye, Harry! Right on target!! I’ll add my two cents…
The fireworks this year should be all about a School Committee and Superintendent that deliberately misled parents about lead in their children’s drinking water. If this was Flint, Michigan there would be an investigation and possible indictments. But here in Newton public officials are held accountable for nothing.
Commissioner DeRubeis has stated ‘carry in- carry out’ as the National Park theme, but the National Park model provides special dumpster or sealed trash receptacles for all park visitors. Feeling bad for the Commish, his orders come from the top, is poorly researched or planned for.
