What a jewel 51 Lincoln has been, and what a sad, sad day to see its closing. Kudos to Jeffrey Fournier and his staff for the long run, the great food, the ambiance of a cut-above neighborhood watering hole with funky cocktails, great food and imaginative pairings, and for the creation of a place where people have been able to gather for a meal or special occasion. We need places to gather, and this loss of a business is a loss for our community.
51 Lincoln will be missed. Hoping another great small business owner will open a wonderful store/restaurant. Newton Highlands just got Ana’s after a long wait.
This stinks. That was my go-to date night place. I’m surprised as well, since it was pretty packed most nights. Any word as to why?
We are hoping/expecting Grape Leaf to open by end of summer in the old Indalo space near the corner of Walnut and Lincoln.
We also have a relatively recent addition, Broken Grounds, a coffee shop on the corner of Floral and Walnut. I met the proprietor, Amelia, who was very nice and helpful with a Village Day issue. She lives in the neighborhood and cares very much about serving the community. The pastry I sampled was delicious.
Sad to see 51 Lincoln go. I hope it is replaced by another nice restaurant.
FYI Broken Grounds replaced The Coffee Corner which had been a coffee, smoothie place in that location for over 20 years. Their landlord gave them short notice to leave and then decided to open his own place in the same spot originally using the old name. The original business relocated to Newton Centre as Newton Nectars.
That stinks about the Coffee Corner. I hope they do well in Newton Centre.
