Making good on his vow to use “every means at my disposal” to push back on high school start times, Newton resident Mike Striar today announced he has purchased Eastern Bus, the company that holds the Newton Public School bus contract.
“I told folks I was going to make this happen and, by golly, I just did,” Striar said. “Effective immediately I’m ordering all my new bus drivers to delay morning pick up all high school routes by one hour.”
Striar also said he would require his drivers to detain any middle schoolers with backpacks that are too heavy and “just toss anything they need to get them down to an acceptable weight.”
