Developer Robert Korff presented a new proposal for the Orr building project in Newtonvile last week and Jonathan Dame of the TAB has the details.
Initial plans were for one six-story building stretching from the intersection of Washington and Walnut streets down to Bailey Place. But developer Robert Korff is purchasing another set of properties – including the Sunoco gas station – that would allow the project to extend to Washington Terrace.
It appears Jake Auchincloss was dishonest with the people of Newton during the campaign.
He misled many people into thinking he had a different position on growth than he has now. “Walkability and affordabilty” was not his only focus during the campaign.
I personally spoke with him. While he clearly IMPLIED that there were development projects that he would support under certain conditions, he also suggested a much stricter that his “main focus” is walkability and affordability. He offered legitimacy to the concerns of growth and density which caused many who oppose development to support him.
He is a young man with clear ambition. He has achieved nothing in his professional career thus far. For him to be already transitioning to slimy politician with no accomplishment to speak for– its misguided at best.
Jake Auchincloss promised thoughtful consideration of new development with concern for considering growth in the context of resident desires. I heard him sayt that 6 months ago myself. I expect him to keep his word.
@Paul: Or maybe you were just not paying attention.
