The Newton Nomadic Theater periodically run an event called the Nomad Story Slams. They are nights of community story telling. Each slam has a theme and anyone can come and throw their name in the hat to tell a five minute story – and they have been wonderful nights of amazing stories.
Every Sunday, I post a single video story from the Nomad Story Slam archive. This week is a great one from the 2nd Nomad Story Slam this past January. The theme was “moving on” and Kelly Wallask tells an absolutely wonderful story about a special teacher and a special student connecting.

Wow. I hope people will take the time to watch this.
@Greg – Yes. That was an amazing 5 minutes and probably the most powerful story told so far.
Thanks for the kind words! I hope this story helps someone else in a similar position.
Now for the epilogue…Here’s a video of him tacklin’ the ivories.

Big thanks to Jerry for organizing the story slams!
Kelly
Just amazing. What a beautiful gift.
Wow. Thanks for sharing this beautiful story Kelly.
@Kelly. Your son is finding his way through the frustrating maze of this tremendous challenge and he will be a tremendous success in life whatever he does. He’s only 8, but he not only captured the style of a young Mozart, but a bit of the emotion he put into his early compositions. That’s an accomplishment that many don’t achieve in years on the piano. You and his piano teacher are special people.
Fabulous! Thanks so much for posting the video Kelly. What a treat to see Knox at the keyboard. Thanks again for your love-filled story too.
I LOVE this family and Knox! Brings tears of joy every time I get to see him play!
