Voters in San Francisco have approved creating a fund designed to help long time business stay in business.

Proposition J quietly proposed building a fund to provide annual grants of up to $500 per full-time-equivalent employee for businesses and nonprofits that have operated in San Francisco for 30-plus years. The organization or business must be either founded or have its headquarters in the city, contribute to a neighborhood’s history or identity or have committed to maintaining physical features or traditions that define the business.
