I’ve always like to say that Village 14 readers aren’t likely voters, they will vote in each and every municipal election. That includes this Thursday’s Preliminary Election which is be held citywide to reduce the number of candidates running for Alderman-at-Large, Ward 2 from five to four. The candidates will appear on the ballot in this order:
Marcia T. Johnson
Lynne Lise LeBlanc
Jacob Daniel Auchincloss
Susan S. Albright
Jessica C. Barton
Voters can choose up to two candidates. Tell us who you are voting for and why you hope others will support your candidate or candidates too.
And let’s try and make this a thread that focuses on the positives. Tell us who you like and why, not who you don’t like.
Jake A. Fresh ideas without the ideology. Still thinking of #2.
Auchincloss impresses mightily. A well-educated, informed and poised candidate who backs up his stances with statistics and research. He is also energized to improve Newton and has deep roots here. A no brainier, really.
LeBlanc would bring healthy skepticism to the status quo and is not afraid to take on the establishment. I like her independence and courage.
The Board needs an injection of new energy and thinking and a lack of fear to question the City’s leaders and direction.
Barton falls in with the anti-incumbent crowd, but I can’t get past her overly-cheery affect and idiosyncrasies. Sorry, Jess. Nothing personal.
Is anyone going to be holding a sign in front of the entrances? I hope not. This is an election where I hope no one enters the building undecided.
