The next Nomad Story Slam community story telling event, loosely based on NPR’s MOTH Radio Hour, will be held this Sunday, July 26, 8 PM at the Hyde Bandstand/Playground on Lincoln St in Newton Highlands. Bring a blanket and/or chair for this FREE evening of stories.
Come and just enjoy a night of storytelling or throw your name in the hat to tell your own story. Your story should be five minutes long, be true, have happened to you and be somehow connected to the night’s theme – “Summertime”. Beyond that, its up to you. It can be funny, or sad, or poignant, or ridiculous – it just has to be a good story.
This will be the 5th Nomad Story Slam and all four of the previous ones have been wonderful nights with 15 – 20 great stories from your Newton friends and neighbors – many of them publicly telling a story for the first time.
Everyone has at least one good story in them so we urge you to polish it up, come on down to The Hyde Bandstand and tell it to us all. If you’ve never been to a “story slam”, you will love it – friends, neighbors, strangers taking turns telling great stories. If you plan to tell a story, arrive a bit early (7:30-7:45).

The Nomad Story Slam is a complete ripoff of the Mosquito which we discovered last year while camping in Wellfleet. Tonight we went out to the Mosquito for the first time this summer, told a story, and heard a wonderful bunch of stories. If you get to the Outer Cape this month, check out the Mosquito.
