Last call for registering for this Sunday’s Tour de Newton! A few of the villages have already been filled up but we’re still taking new registrations in many of them.
The 20 mile, 13 village leisurely bike ride has a stop in all 13 villages where you’ll pick up these badges, maybe some snacks and hear a bit about the village. The riders all start out at the same time (9:30) from every village so Sunday morning the city will be full of bicycle.
If 20 miles is too far, sign up for the 5 mile, 3 village, Petite Tour. If you like a faster pace, sign up for the Contra Tour – the same route, but in the opposite direction, at your own pace.
If you don’t want to ride, then sign up as a Village Greeter (email [email protected]) for your neighborhood or stop by your village’s stop on Sunday morning, join the official Greeters and cheer on the all the visiting riders who’ll be streaming into your village all morning long.
Our road marking crew has completed their job. The entire route’s is now all marked. I hear that in Nonantum our crew put down special green/white/red versions of the TdN road markings – nice touch!
Urgent notice from the Uh-oh Dept!
We now have Village Greeters lined up for all 13 villages for this Sunday’s Tour de Newton and this morning I realized that we just added a 14th this year.
This year, we have added a shorter Petite Tour de Newton for the less experienced riders. It’s a 5 mile loop through 3 village stops and it begins/ends at Mason Rice school. We need one more volunteer for Mason Rice on Sunday morning. Compared to all the regular Village Greeters this will be a quick and easy job. You’d need to arrive at about 8:45, set up a table outside Mason Rice. We’ll provide your supplies and instructions. From 9 – 9:30 you sign in the riders, and hand out T shirts, maps and take a photo of the group before they hit the road at 9:30. Then you’re done.

Calling all Waban’ers we need your help. We’re all set in all the other villages but we need some Greeters in Waban Our regular Waban Village Greeters from previous years aren’t available and we need you. It’s a great fun way to spend a morning.

We’re all set now in Waban thanks to Alderman Yates and some volunteers from Newton Wellesley Hospital. Now if any of you have any pull in the weather department, we could use some assistance there too.
Jerry, you will need to consult a higher power. Maybe Steve Feinstein.
