A public meeting will be held by the Land Use Committee on Tuesday May 19 at 7:30 PM in the Aldermanic (Counciloric?) Chambers to review a revised plan for the project.
In response to earlier neighborhood opposition, the new plan dropped the previously proposed restaurant and some of the office space and replaced it with six additional residential rental units.
More about the proposal can be found here.
@Jerry – OK this tasty little pot-pie has been sitting on the shelf for how long? And not a single damn comment in all that time. Anybody drops a half-eaten cruller on the sidewalk in Newtonville and there’s a dozen pigeons and a flock of grackles pecking over the carcass, examining every crumb for how many parking spaces might be won or lost, and whether Historical Stretches of Cracked Asphalt will be suitably preserved for current and future generations. But in the Wild Wild West (or is it east?) of Auburndale, they don’t give a damn about that stuff, and not a single solitary soul has even bothered to comment on the Blog of Record. So Splain This To Me, oh All Seeing Eye, cause I just don’t get it. I hear all the Sturm und Drang over this Auston St place, and when I pull in to the parking lot behind the Village Bank next to the Post Office in Auburndale I see a wasteland just as drab and forsaken as any in Newtonville. Please sir, could I have a break here (me being a taxpayer and all)? Or (as usual) am I confused, and all the erstwhile citizens of that fair village over yonder are totally in agreement with whatever the current proposal happens to be, which will hopefully be fully completed in time for the Fireworks on the 4th. And if that is the case, why do I as a pathetic citizen of accursed Ward Two have to put up with so much crap just to get a little housing built, while the dudes over in the ‘Dale just have a picnic?
[Sorry if I kind of got a little overboard on the rhetoric there – just for effect, you know] BTW I love Turtle Lane, I love theater, I love restaurants, and I think we all benefit from more of all of them. Let’s just get some stuff done, eh? Could we do it before I have my inevitable hemorraghic stroke, ok? Sheesh, why is this so hard?
