Cross off any expectations that long time Newton Alderman Lenny Gentile might run for mayor once Setti Warren heads off for Tel Aviv.
Gentile tells me that he’s just bought a house in Everett so he could be closer to his kids and grandchildren and will be moving there early next year.
“I wasn’t planning on speaking about this and this will be my only comment on this and then that would be it” he said. “At first, my realtor suggested I look in Somerville. ‘Somerville?, I said, “Why not Everett? Or Chelsea?'”
“Ultimately we found a cute little cape in Everett that we’re going to tear down . I’m going to miss Newton and my colleagues on the board, but turns out Somerville, Chelsea and Everett are all nice places that are comparable in many ways to Newton.”
I just heard that Tom Sheff is moving to Ward 4 and will run for the open seat. Go Tom!
I heard Len Gentile was moving to Somerville, not Everett.
Doug,
I have no comment on you’re post. But I will confirm that I have spoken to Jonathan Yeo and David Olson on how to move from one ward to another and still run for office.
@tomsheff – I think I’d stick with David Olson for that advice
Tom, David Olson awaits your call. Greg Reibman has agreed to serve as your media consultant at no cost but it can’t interfere with his day job.
Now that’s really funny. Lenny’s kids are still young and there are no grandkids. Lenny doesn’t even drive out of Newton.
Hey Greg – I’m an Everett girl… You’re not poking fun at my hometown are you?? Or are we still playing with April Fools?
@Gloria: No slight on Everett (at least not from me!) This was a reference to what I consider Alderman Gentile’s most infamous speech.
Doug,
I’ll be awaiting his phone call
