This spring, NewTV will be offering a variety of specialty courses taught by experts in their field. Melanie Graham, Digital Content and Social Media Producer at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute will teach two courses on social media. There will also be a workshop on documentary filmmaking taught by Margo Guernsey, the founder and executive producer at Time Travel Productions LLC and senior producer at McElroy Films LLC. These classes are being offered in addition to the regularly offered courses that are included in the cost of a NewTV membership.

The first social media class will be geared towards beginners and will focus on how to best utilize Facebook and Twitter. The Social Media Intermediate/Advanced Class will focus on Instagram, LinkedIn, Google+ and content marketing. Melanie Graham is eager to teach this class, understanding that, “because there is so much out there, it is crucial for people to know how to best approach social marketing and social media for their cause or for their personal brand.”

In a two-session workshop called Shooting Reality, Margo Guernsey will teach participants the basic tools they need to capture the shots required to tell their story. Participants will learn how to work with non-actors to get great footage without directing them. Guernsey recognizes that, “a lot of people with really great intentions have a hard time telling people what they are doing in a succinct way for a media savvy world,” and she is working to change that.

Social Media for Beginners will be held on Wednesday, April 22 at 7pm. Social Media Intermediate/Advanced will be held Wednesday, May 27 at 7pm. Shooting Reality will be held on Wednesday, April 29 and Wednesday, May 13 at 6pm. There is a small fee for each class.
