Jon Goldberg of Newton Highlands tells of good deeds ready to happen — a community service of the Newton South HS Boys Hockey team:
If you need, or if you know of anyone with a need for help with snow removal (‘need’ meaning not physically able to remove the snow, and that it would be an undue financial burden pay for help), please let me know. I may be able to arrange for a player or two from the Newton South boy’s hockey team to help with snow removal. I am just acting as a liaison and can’t guarantee results. The safety of our players is of paramount importance. Players will not drive during storms or expose themselves to unsafe conditions. The idea is to match local players with points of need. I love this! Combine athletics with a sense of community service; A great learning experience for all. Newton North’s terrific wrestling coach (and Newton Highlands resident) John Staulo has also led young men in this way for years, bringing them together to help non-profits. True leadership.
Go South Hockey!
Great stuff!!!
Calling all high-school students… You don’t have to be on the hockey team to volunteer to help shovel out a neighbor in need. Jon Goldberg is happy to hear from any high-school student who would like to volunteer for this. With school closed for the day, what else is there to do, anyway? 😉
