Friday night saw the last summer concert and movie on the Hyde playground in Newton Highlands. This has been a great summer with large crowds enjoying the Friday entertainment along with two Shakespearean plays and an orchestral performance. John Rice has done a great job of building community with his summer program and deserves a round of applause. I am sure he has something new up his sleeves for next summer.
With summer over, the Hyde and Highlands will be looking forward to the citywide Haunted House in October and skating in the playground, weather permitting.
Don’t forgot to signup for the Hyde email list to learn of upcoming events and let John know if you can able to help out on the many happenings at the Hyde!
John told us that a total of 10,000 or so people attended these summer programs. A few years back, I never would have dreamed something this big and dynamic would be possible in staid, old Newton Highlands. This is a real testament to John’s vision and leadership. I don’t want to discount what so many other people did to move this along, but without John, it never would have happened.
Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory was the perfect movie to end the summer. Biggest crowd I’ve seen. Thank you, John Rice!
