Stopping by the Newton Senior Center this week to say hi to Jayne Colino, I saw her walking across the parking lot holding a large award. Jayne is the Director, Newton Department of Senior Services. She was presented with the “Director of the Year Award” by the Massachusetts Association of Councils on Aging (MCOA) on June 6th. “The MCOA is a statewide association whose mission is to promote the growth and quality of Councils on Aging and senior centers and strengthen the professional skills of Council on Aging staff. The award is given in recognition of excellent contributions to seniors and those who serve them.” Congratulations Jayne !

“Well-deserved” fails to properly articulate this recognition of Jayne’s commitment to providing services to Newton seniors, but it will have to suffice until someone can come up with something better. It’s great to see Jayne’s service properly recognized.
Great news! Congratulations Jayne!
Jayne is a treasure! I have had the pleasure of working with her for several years, first as a member of the founding board of the Senior Center and now on the Council on Aging. She is bright, articulate and ever so passionate. This City is fortunate to have her working tirelessly for our seniors. Congratulations, Jayne!!
As someone who works with financially distressed elders in communities within Middlesex and Norfolk Counties, I have lots of dealings with senior centers and councils on aging.
We are blessed to have someone of Jayne’s calibre managing this important function here in Newton.
I agree with what everyone said. Congratulations to Jayne Colino. I can’t think of anyone more deserving of the recognition for her work.
Don’t you people know that this is a Newton blog and that you’re not allowed to all agree with each other?
Congratulations Jayne and, more importantly, thanks for all you do for our seniors.
@Greg – I disagree … on agreeableness, not on Jayne.
