This Sunday’s Boston Sunday Globe featured Alderman David Kalis in their monthly profiles of local authors. The article entitled “Front-row seat to Soviet Union Coup” by Maggie Quick features lots of quotes from David Kalis and a lot of the back story about writing his book “Vodka Shot, Pickle Chaser”.
The book is a wild tale of a 20-something Kalis who ends up in Moscow just as the entire Soviet Union unravels overnight in front of him.
David has written a fascinating and thoughtful book about a major world event that he just happened to experience by being there and by being the type of guy he is. It’s a must read, but not much of a surprise to folks that know him.
