Boston has the Financial District. Norwood’s got the Auto Mile. Here in Upper Falls it looks like a budding Petropolis is taking shape. We have Especially For Pets on Chestnut St, Petco just over the line in Needham on Needham St and a new big PetSmart being built on Tower Rd, around the corner from Needham St.
Peekaboo the hamster was just buried in our back yard last week. If my daughter’s lobbying efforts for a new pet are successful, at least we won’t have to go far for supplies.
I’m sorry to hear about the death of your hamster Peekaboo.
I noticed that and was very puzzled that Petsmart thought that was a good location for a new store. You’d think they’d want to move in someplace where there was less competition, not more.
Condolences on Peekaboo.
For anyone that is a new pet owner, I would strongly suggest buying pet food at a place that gives advice. There are dozens of brands of dog and cat foods, and hundreds of selections within brands. Choosing based on advertizing, price or key-words meant to confuse buyers is not the way to go.
In Newton, Especially For Pets is a great place to get advice. What kinds of advice might you need? If you’re looking at two brands of food that appear to be the same formula, the staff might see something like beet pulp and mention a few words about it. You might notice a popular brand that isn’t there anymore and find out that there were recalls and they decided not to reorder. And just as a basic. if one label said meat by-product, another meat meal, and another with the term “human grade” meat, would you know which is best?
Shopping local sometimes means premium prices, but not in this example. You’d pay just as much at a big box store
