I just received word that Alderman Anthony Salvucci (Sal) passed away at about 5:30 p.m. yesterday. More details will be posted here as we have them.
Village 14 sends our condolences to Sal’s family and loved ones and to Sal’s colleagues on the Board of Aldermen.
UPDATE: Obituary is here.
That is very sad news. He was always very easy to reach , nice to deal with, and helpful whenever I contacted him. It can’t have been easy to keep working while dealing with medical issues.
RIP, Sal. A true gentleman, always true to his word. You will be missed, my alderman and my friend.

So sorry to hear this. RIP Sal, you’ll be in our prayers.
As one of the seven freshmen who joined the Board with Sal in 1987 (Ald. Baker and I are the only two still on the Board) and a long time member of the Public Facilities Committee with him,
I am deeply saddened by this news. Sal was a down-to-earth and immensely funny colleague and a loyal friend. I will miss him immensely.

Sal brings to mind a slogan about Hubert Humphrey that’s on one of his old Presidential campaign posters in my attic. “Some talk about change. Others cause it.” I wish I had known him better than I did.
Any news on the key dates to fill the Ward 3 seat and whether anyone has expressed interest?
So it appears this special election will not take place until September. What changed on the forthwith part between last year and this year other than last year a standing alderman really wanted the seat and this year a political unknown will likely emerge? We’re so inconsistent that inconsistency is the part we always do the same
