Construction began this week at 15 Lincoln St. in Newton Highlands. The former Lincoln Street Coffee (Evesso Coffee) location has brown paper on the windows and a building permit indicating that Otake Sushi will take over the space with up to 15 seats.
This would be the second restaurant in the neighborhood selling Sushi with Takara Sushi around the corner on Walnut Street.
Hopefully this new food option will draw more folks into town to support the other Highlands merchants. For me Sushi is a welcome change to the current wave of salons that have been filling the retail spaces.
Like.
Sounds good. I would love to see more diverse cuisines on Lincoln St. Currently we have no options for Italian, Indian, Chinese, seafood, etc.
Happy it’s not a salon! Still could use a coffee joint that is good at coffee and hang-out/work space. Would love a good Indian option somewhere in the area!
Ice cream. Newton Highlands needs ice cream.
@Kevin, Bread & Chocolate is a good place to hang out with good coffee and better bakery food then we saw at Lincoln Street. I agree that Indian would be great after the loss of the Indian Paradise in Newton Centre.
A dedicated Indian Restaurant would be awesome, in the meanwhile, Walnut Grill does offer many Indian-inspired vegan dishes. Really good too.
Psst: Takara is by far the best local sushi …. I’ve kept this a secret until now…
@Andreae, with a typical two hour wait on Friday nights it is not much of a secret. Takara has been great since it opened and though three sets of owners.
