Table2WithRuth | Newton MA News and Politics BlogIt’s cold, dark, gray and dreary this afternoon so it’s time for some cheery news about summer.

The Feast of The Falls is definitely coming again on Sunday June 22.  The fabulous, free, fun, Feast will be back again this year for the 2nd time.

The Feast of the Falls is a sit down gourmet dinner with live music for 250 people at a single very long table, in Upper Falls’ Hemlock Gorge.  Last year’s event was the brain child of Seana Gaherin, from Dunn-Gaherins Restaurant.  Local businesses and their suppliers (Dunn Gaherins, Better Life Foods) provided  food, supplies, and the mobile kitchen staff.  Local community groups (Upper Falls CDC, Tzu Chi Foundation) provided financial and logistical support, neighborhood folks provided an army of volunteers, and 250 tickets went to the first Upper Falls residents that signed up for them.  The guests were waited on by the VIP Servers made up of a “who’s who” of local celebrities including most of our local elected officials and many of the most well known faces from the village businesses.

This year, the plan is to recruit more local businesses to help with The Feast and to increase the number of guests up to 300.   This year we hope to expand the VIP Server crew too (Mr. Mayor please keep that date free).

So if you live in Upper Falls put it on your calendar now.  If you live elsewhere you’ll have a shot at buying tickets to the Feast via an online auction sometime in late spring.
