I just saw this announcement on B Street Restaurant’s Facebook page:
Has anyone heard anything more? This would be a sad departure too, Elli has been a great community supporter.

Bummer with a capital B!
Oh no. I love this place! Every time I was there it was crowded.
That reminds me – does anyone know what happened to Evesso on Lincoln St.?
Evesso just seemed to disappear overnight. That one didn’t surprise me though. He wasn’t delivering the same quality that Peter was, and I suspect he lost Lincoln Coffee’s customers fast.
B Street, on the other hand, seemed to have a loyal customer base.
Lot’s of competition. A quick Google search brings up over 20 dining spots in Newton Centre alone and if you expand it to a mile or two away- including Chestnut Hill and Newtonville- it’s saturated. A restaurateur has to be on his toes to make it in this environment.
What a shame! Though not a tremendous surprise. The last several times we’ve eaten there, most recently just a week or so ago, the place has been practically empty. It filled a useful niche, too–a place for grownups without being a plan-in-advance special-night-out like Sycamore. Well, it’s a tough business, without a doubt, and I’m sure the unusually cold weather we’ve been having hasn’t helped. Perhaps this neighborhood has reached a saturation point vis-à-vis restaurants. I’ll be curious to see what moves in.
sad. Good people. Good food.
Sad to see the niche Lincoln/Evesso filled empty. I can’t remember – why did the shop change hands? It’s really too bad, because it was a lovely meeting place under the previous ownership.
Peter sold Lincoln Street Coffee because he was looking to move on from the day to day, um, grind of running a coffee shop. There’s an unconfirmed rumor that a sushi place may be moving in.
By the way, this would mean that the Highlands Village would have more sushi places (2) than banks (1)!
I’m disappointed that both closed but at the same time am crossing my fingers that either is filled by an Anna’s Taqueria. That would be (a) awesome and (b) a great daily test of my will power.
@Kara – What a wonderful thought. Anna’s was my favorite!
I can’t believe this! I’m so sad 🙁
(and I came across this story while trying to find my articles on Patch to save since as of today Patch is essentially no more)
I heard that Anna’s is moving into the old Rox Cafe space. Source: hairdresser on Lincoln St.
That would be an excellent fit for that space.
