The Tab seems to set great store in administrative experience rather than hands on experience. I would respectfully suggest that you need experience of how work actually gets done to be able to oversee it. You don’t need elaborate reporting systems and public relations operations to serve the people properly if you’ve actually served them yourself. My years as Senior Clerk in the City Treasurer’s office have made me well acquainted with the flow of city financial operations. The details may have changed, but the fundamental principles have not. Spend the people’s money carefully and wisely.
I won’t be buffaloed by the details of maintaining our current buildings or building new ones because I worked at an international construction company that carried out many of the same tasks.
Special Education and school transportation are not mysteries to me because I worked for years transporting children with special needs to school. I know these tasks firsthand. I know what elderly people need to stay in their own homes as long as possible because I took care of my mother for many years until her death and have worked with other senior citizens. I know that the needs of seniors are not limited to the Department of Senior Services. I will study the possibility of a residential tax exemption like those given in most of the surrounding communities to lessen the tax burden on low-income home-owners.
I will make sure that Seniors and others who receive limited programs like Fuel Assistance, Food Stamps/EBT, and SSI will receive discounted water-sewer fees as well.
