It was curious that were no letter to the editor about the override this week, the week of the election.
@Jerry – I was curious about that as well as I know several people who have submitted such letters.
The letters were probably all anti-override. I think they don’t like opposing points of view too much, especially at a critical time like this.
@Barry: Newspaper people (and blog hosts for that matter) thrive on dissenting views far more than on pushing agendas. We want folks to disagree and come back again and again for more.
Meanwhile, it’s true that GateHouse does have a long standing policy of not printing letters in the edition prior to the election, although it’s also true that the TAB’s last publisher was neither a fan or practitioner of the policy.
Barry – as far as I can see they’ve been pretty even handed throughout the campaign with similar number of letters from both camps.
I can pretty much guarantee you that they received plenty of letters from both sides this week.
I think Emily ran an announcement saying that she wasn’t running any letters this week.

@Gail — yes, I did.
@Gail. That’s true. I only learned that last week’s edition was the cutoff for letters an hour before the Friday 5 PM deadline. I had to rush to compose something half way legible. I managed to stumble through a first draft; it got clocked into the TAB at 4:58 PM with just 2 minutes to spare.
I just added a link to the endorsement to the post. Here it is as well.
